Among many other activities, moves08 included a filmmaking lab: each participant made as many short films as they could within the duration of the festival. What is the filmmaking lab?
moves08 filmmaking lab ran over five days and brings together artists and students from various backgrounds to make as many films/videos as possible in a very tight time scale.
ALL films were shown at the final screening and party.
As a student, it was a fantastic opportunity to get to work with students from other departments, get a cross-over approach of filmmaking, and to start mingling with industry professionals as the lab is open to students and professionals alike; as an artist, it wa a great fun time to explore creative ideas to be possibly furthered on a bigger scale.
Following this year's festival theme, all films must explored the interaction of movement and sound. The partnership with the RNCM enabled filmmakers and choreographers to work with student composers and musicians throughout the lab.
