m09: "The Adventures of prince Achmed", L. Reiniger
moves night #1
Thanks to all of you who joined us for our first moves night on Wednesday 21st January. The evening was very constructive and focused, and we're looking forward to the next one.
Here's a little bit more about moves night and about how to continue the debate:
moves night is a new industry event where artists are invited to show their “work in progress”. Screenings are followed by a public debate moderated by an industry professional who will discuss the direction of their work in an informal and open discussion.
For the first moves night, we explored the work in progress of two North West-based artists: Annabel Newfield presented her new work, ‘Cracks Threshold’, and Markus Soukup revisited his film ‘Roles Roll’ screened at moves07.
Run in partnership with DiGM and greenroom, the event was moderated by Gitta Wigro, a freelance programmer specialising in screendance, as a peer-to-peer event, enabling both artists and audiences to go through the making of dance film and explore artistic issues. The artists will continue updating their work in progress in our moves night facebook event page where everyone is invited to join the debate.
