Based at Liverpool’s creative hub, the Bluecoat, this spring moves will take your minds on an inspiring journey bringing the cream of the latest short films and video works by emerging experimental masterminds, internationally acclaimed artists and filmmakers to the region.
From Liverpool to Manchester and across the UK; on screens, on sites and online moves is celebrating its 6th successful year reaching out to more audiences than ever. With nearly 500 submissions from over 40 countries from around the globe, moves impact is greater than ever before encouraging even more talents from the region, the UK and around the world to discover and exchange new methods of telling stories centred around movement on screen through films, installations, forums and live events.
Themed Framing Motion, moves will explore how practitioners choose to frame movement through their choice of setting and context to define the boundaries for screen-based works. These can be real worlds or imaginary, abstract, impossible or augmented environments defined by a specific visual intent.
In looking at methods of capturing a sense of pulse and energy, we also investigate definitions of stillness: the dialogue of pause-and-release through which motion occurs: capturing - if only for a moment - the essence of life ablaze.
