moves08 is just over! This year's programme focused on the interaction of sound and movement in film through screenings, debates and hands-on creative events.

moves'  key role is to be a platform with room to DEBATE content as much as to SEE and MAKE work. There was plenty to share through the three-day conference and industry events; to discover through the screenings and installations (in Manchester and Lancaster for the first time); to create through the filmmaking lab and masterclass.

Testimonials

'I want to let you know how much I enjoyed what I saw of moves08. I like the way you are expanding the festival to include animation, experimental and ambient work, rather than focusing entirely on dance. When the editing and framing become part of the choreography though, that's magic. Pure cinema. And that's what I was seeing a lot of the time at moves. Some really lovely, eye-opening work. Then again, all film is essentially some kind of movement of light on screen, so the possibilities are endless.' Steve Balshaw, Film Curator

'moves08 was simply awesome! Pascale Moyse, Festival Director of Moves08, pulled together a well-organized, interesting and elite-level string of events and although the festival was filled with high profile and international input; it still remained very personal and offered a great opportunity to network and to gain real insight into the contemporary world of video dance.' Sabine Klaus, filmmaker

'I'd just like to extend my personal congrats for a fantastic festival! It was a great mix of events and screenings and forums etc ' Andy Wood, filmmaker

'Thank you for another great festival! I feel the festival has really grown into itself and has developed a real personality of its own.' Vicky Bloor, Head of Screendance, South East Dance

'An interesting and inspiring festival.' Birgitta Hosea, digital artist and researcher
