Call for Contemporary Dancers!
moves needs 5 contemporary dancers to support artist performance!
Sound and visual artist Goran Vejvoda (France) will premiere his piece SAYAT NOVA - REVISITED as part of moves10 on Friday 10 September, 8pm, at the Bluecoat, Liverpool. For his performative, poetical, free re-interpretation of Paradjanov’s film Sayat Nova, Goran will work with local dancers to present an open-ended performance based on improvisation.
The work requires four dancers at beginners' levels (two male, two female) and one female dancer of advanced contemporary dance knowledge/practice.
There will be 3-4 simple routines for the four dancers at beginners' level to study and an improvised solo (far Eastern style) for the advanced female dancer.
The moves are based on mystical-symmetrical attitudes influenced by Sergei Paradjanov's world. The Armenian cinema master has directed films such as "The Colour of The Pomegranates" (Sayat Nova) and "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors".
Dancers would need to be available for rehearsals on Thursday 9 September, 11am-6pm and Friday 10 September, 10am-1pm and the performance on Friday night, 8pm at the Bluecoat.
Basic black dance outfits and dancing shoes required. Costumes will be provided by the artist.
