Repetition - Angela WalkerREPETITION (2'27 / Liverpool / 2010)
The red glow of the lights is unrecognisable until the pavement comes into sight. Then we hear a different tune, until finally, everything is put into perspective. Seeing things from a different focus of attention, we can see the bigger picture and things make a little more sense.

Light and Dunnock - Mary PrestidgeLIGHT AND DUNNOCK  (2'30 / Liverpool / 2010)
I had some pre recorded material which I wanted to play with as a first try of PC laptop basic editing (Roxio Easy Media Creator)
Cross fade and dissolve were the only effects I used. My intention filmically was to show and allow light change over time to juxtapose with bird time, capturing the speed, dynamics and intensity of a small animal who frequents my back yard.  I made choices to keep ambiant real sounds in for some sections and to cut out altogether in others. It was a primitive effort to create another layer and dynamic with the time, tools and expertise that I had.

Totale - Joe McLaughlinTOTALE  (7'22 / Liverpool / 2010)
Realising I lacked the time and technical experience to film my initial ideas, I tried to compensate using my limited electronics and music knowledge to construct a Hex-Schmitt Trigger*.
The sleep-deprived 7 day filmmaking process then went through 3 stages.

- Erratic filming of local inner-city decay, post-industry and urban-countryside
- Improvised recordings of analogue synthesiser music/sound as a reference point for the Hex-Schmitt Trigger.
- I then fed the resulting film and music back through the Hex-Schmitt Trigger process to complete the edit.

*a physical and theoretical Hex-Schmitt Trigger device.

'Sometimes an input signal to a digital circuit doesn't directly fit the description of a digital signal. For various reasons it may have slow rise and/or fall times, or may have acquired some noise that could be sensed by further circuitry. It may even be an analog signal whose frequency we want to measure. All of these conditions, and many others, require a specialized circuit that will "clean up" a signal and force it to true digital shape.
The required circuit is called a Schmitt Trigger'

Inspired by the 1980's images of Liverpool 80's social-photographer, Dave Sinclair.
