Building on moves07’s success in positioning itself as a key platform for the industry and audiences interested in screen-based work exploring 'choreographed movement’, moves returned for the fourth year in Manchester, Lancaster and the North West of England - the schedule is still ready for downlad on the left-hand side of this page.  

Taking place 22-26 April 2008, moves08 experimental short film and new media festival showcased:

- a three-day conference focusing on the interaction of choreographed movement and sound in screen-based work 22-24 April;

- nine international screenings throughout the festival;

- a five-day filmmaking lab throughout the North West;

- a one-day tutorial for students are artists with Italian special guest Donald Glowinski on Eyesweb real-time open source editing software;

- one special live sound event with UK DJ and filmmaker Alex Reuben;

- installations in Manchester and Lancaster.

A programme of work curated for the BBC Big Screens also be showed throughout the UK. Through its Discovery strand, moves08 gave a special place to students, emerging and experimental artists.
